Ingredients

  • 2 cups masa harina
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Fillings of your choice: beans, cheese, meats, or veggies

Instructions

  1. Mix masa harina, salt, and warm water until a soft dough forms. Add a touch of oil to keep it smooth.
  2. Divide dough into 8 equal balls. Flatten each ball into a thick disc, about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook each gordita for 2 to 3 minutes per side until lightly browned.
  4. Once cooked, let them cool slightly. Slice open the edge to create a pocket.
